Comments: I lived in Nkana from January 1958 to 1963. I had 3 children Alan born UK and Frank and Wendy born in Nkana Mine Hospital. When I was expecting my fourth child, my husband Frank, aged 28, died in a car accident on the road from Chingola to Kitwe, in September 1963. I never wanted to go back to Wales, but had no choice. I lived in the next Avenue to Carol and Clem Richter and their children Gerrald and Lorraine, also Andy and Pearl Brandon, with their children Richard, Ian and Darryl. I can't tell you how I have missed the houseboy and garden boy! Would be nice to hear from anyone who lived there at that time.

Comments: Somehow missed this excellent site until now. Thanks for your great efforts in keeping Rhodesia alive in memories and for the support your provide. I emigrated from SA to Rhodesia in 1960 as a young lad of 21 yrs, loved the country from the start, proudly took out Rhodesian citizenship, married Rhodie girl Ann Potterton in Fort Victoria in 1965 where we lived until 1979, when we moved with 3 children to Port Elizabeth in SA. A 4th child was born in SA. Have been living in New Zealand since 2001 where I very recently lost my lovely Rhodie wife after 42 wonderful yrs marriage to cancer. Our four children and their own families now live in different parts of the world (England, Aus, NZ and SA), but I'm returning to live in SA early next year with my youngest son in PE. Anyone remember me?

Comments: How great to see that there are many of us still out their with memories.I also grew up in Filabusi with my cousin Sandi Evans, and friends Lal, Marg and Rose Kennedy. We are all still in touch. We had an Eveline School Reunion a couple of years back, and remembered lots of things, like school, teachers, forces favourites with Sally Donaldson. What was amazing about the Rhodesians was that we persevered and did well in our adoptive countries. I think we were blessed with very good Rhodesian Genes, that helped us overcome our loss. Rhodesia was God's Own Country. Would love to hear from any of you!

Comments: Hi, Iv'e only just found your web site whilst looking for info on the Flame Lily flower. I lived in Que Que from 1969 until 1971 and then Gwelo until we returned to England in 1980. I always felt a bit of a coward getting out then but on reflection I realize that it was the best thing to do for the family. Life was very hard when we arrived in the UK but over the years it has improved until now when I feel so very happy with life as it is now and my past life in a wonderful country.... Rhodesia. Would love to hear from anyone who knew either myself or my family. Children Sara, Richard, Joanne and Michael. They all went to Riverside school and then Thornhill. Sara unfortunately died in 1993 but others doing well. Michael is getting married on 7th July this year and is planning to have corsages of Flame Lilys for guests. Good luck to everyone and that beautiful country that will always remain in my heart.

Keep up the good work. Regards from Paraguay.

There is quite a growing population of South Africans here - there must be over 500 right now - they keep coming and going all the time. We were some of the first to come over to Paraguay in the late 70's. If anyone wants to come over here to live or for a visit, I'd be glad to give a hand. Beautiful country - almost like old Rhodesia.

Great site. Was born & bred in Salisbury - best place on the earth. Went to Marlborough Primary then onto Marlborough High. Left in 1979. Miss it lots. I am very proud to be a Rhodesian (now living in Canada) and wouldn't change anything. My biggest regret is that Bob has sunk the country to such a low, that my children will never have the same treasured memories as I did and living in such a wonderful country, Rhodesia as a child is a whole lot better than living in Canada, anyday. I used your site as a bit of reference when I was doing some marketing projects in college last year and have adopted the "flame lily" as my logo. I frequently get asked questions about the flame lily and am very proud to tell people that it is the national flower of my country of birth. My late dad was very active in RASA, he also was a bred Rhodesian and died a Rhodesian - Great site, Great Country, Great People, Wonderful memories

Great site, brings back many memories. Left in 1989 after having spent my childhood in Mashaba, attended Mashaba Primary 1968 - 1974, Guinea Fowl High (Wellington House)1975 - 1977 and then later moved to Fort Victoria High(Tower House)1977 - 1979. Attended Bulawayo Tech 1980 - 1982. Married school sweetheart Anriette Nel in 1984 (daughter of TOM & Ann Nel of Gutu). My parents Lou & Mona Watson have retired in Kriel Mphumalanga. We regularly visit family in Zimbabwe who despite all odds are still managing to farm in Gutu/Chatsworth. Just when you think things have reached rock bottom, Bob manages to sink Zims lower.

Great site, and brings back many memories. Left in 72 having spent my childhood in Rhodesia, it has always been a special place for me and to this day I still slip back into using some of the 'lingo' I grew up on! I only hope things will get better out there now, it is truely a tragic situation.

I left Zimbabwe in 1984 to come to South Africa. Been living here since and only yesterday 02.06.05 got to hear of the Rhodesian site on internet. What a GREAT SITE - only a pity that it is not advertized more widely in other ways. I only got to hear of the site after replying to the advertisment in the YOU magazine for the reunion in November. Once I got onto the site I was impressed to see a few names that I recognised from School and in particular "FILABUSI". Is there anyone out there from FILABUSI that remembers me. I would love to hear from you... this is where I grew up and definitly remember this as the BEST years of my life. We had such a GOOD / EXCITING childhood in Filabusi. I also went to Eveline and stayed in Bulawayo and don't see enough names of friends from my era (born 1963..)

After having left Zim in 1983 have only now heard of this internet sight. We have obviously been fast asleep. Would love to hear from old friends whom we have lost contact with. Have not searched the sight extensively, so not sure if you have a section on contacts Just to mention that here in Cape Town, you know when a Rhodie has lived in a particular house, cause there are always Flame Lilies in the gardens. Also I had a wonderful day yesterday with a group of ex-rhodie females who went to Nettleton Junior School, boy did we go down memory lane. No one can take that away from us! Anyone out there from this era, contact would be great. 1963 to 1969 (ops giving away my age?)
